Gas turbine flow meters have high sensitivity, good repeatability, a wide range, and high accuracy. They have been widely used in natural gas trade settlement measurement and even as standard instruments for value transmission. With the comprehensive development of urban gas engineering in China and the continuous improvement of requirements for commercial trade and transfer measurement of gas, gas turbine flow meters have gradually become one of the preferred instruments for commercial trade and transfer measurement of urban gas in China.
The turbine type flow meter working principle is not difficult to understand. A turbine flow meter is a velocity-type flow meter. A freely rotating impeller is installed in the pipeline where the fluid flows. When the fluid passes through the impeller, the kinetic energy of the fluid causes the impeller to rotate. The higher the fluid velocity, the greater the kinetic energy, and the higher the impeller speed. Within the specified flow range and a certain fluid viscosity, the rotation speed is linearly related to the flow speed. By measuring the rotation speed or the number of rotations of the impeller, the fluid flow through the pipeline can be determined.
The factors affecting the turbine flow meter accuracy include the quality issues of the meter itself, unreasonable design and selection, improper installation, and improper maintenance during operation.
Due to the inertia of the turbine in a turbine flow meter, it is not suitable for occasions with frequent flow fluctuations, as this will reduce measurement accuracy. To accurately estimate the peak and valley values of gas usage and the pressure condition of the medium, it is necessary to correctly determine the specifications of the flow meter.
A filter must be installed before the gas turbine flow meter; the filter should be kept unobstructed, and if it is found to be blocked (as judged by the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter), the filter should be cleaned in time. If no differential pressure gauge is equipped, the filter should be cleaned once a month.
The requirement for straight pipe sections must be met, especially in cases where there is a reduction in diameter or a half-open valve before the meter.
During installation, the sealing gasket must not protrude into the pipeline, and there should be no obvious deviation in the alignment of the flow meter and the pipeline axis by visual inspection, and installation stress should not be generated.
During installation, be sure to clean all debris inside the pipeline thoroughly to prevent the bearings and turbine from jamming.
By using the above methods, the accuracy of the turbine flow meter can be effectively improved.
